Time: 6:30 - 7:30 PM (project set up at 6:15 PM)
Place: Boght Hills Cafeteria & Gymnasium
Registration: All participants MUST complete an online registration by Friday, January 24th
At Boght Hills anyone who is interested in Science, Technology, Engineering and/or Mathematics (STEM) is a WINNER. All participants will receive a commemorative water bottle sticker to show off their commitment to learning.

Experiment or Investigation
Model or Demonstration
Display a collection of natural objects
Rules:
Students will work on projects at home and will need to supply all materials to complete the project - NOTE: No power, water, or other resources will be provided by the PTA or made available by the school. Extension cords are not allowed.
Projects must be described and approved by the Science fair team prior to participating in the event. The Registration Form asks for project descriptions and the Science Fair team will respond to your registration with an approval or further questions
Your project display board (maximum of 36” x 48” tri-fold) must include title, name(s) and a detailed explanation of your work.
All projects MUST be self-contained and may not cause anything to fall on the table or floor.
You are responsible for cleaning up your area at the end of the Science Fair
Dangerous materials, anything that can splash outside your project area, or items that leave a mess to clean up - such as slime, chemicals, open flames, bacteria, explosives, fungus, bodily fluids and live animals - will NOT be allowed
Recommendations:
Do Your Research! You can use books or websites to find out information about your topic.
Prepare for Your Project! Collect all the materials you will need to complete your experiment, demonstration or collection. Some projects take longer than others so be sure to give yourself enough time.
Do Your Project! While you do your experiment, make your model, or collect your objects, be sure to take notes and maybe pictures that you can use to share your work at the Science Fair.
Prepare Your Display Board! You can use pictures, drawings, charts and graphs.
Be creative and have fun with it!
OPTIONAL Competitive Judging:
This year we will be having some OPTIONAL competitive judging. Trophies will be awarded in 3 categories. There are 2 trophies in each category (1 for grades K-2 and 1 for grades 3-5) for a total of 6 trophies for the entire event.
This years categories are:
Most Innovative - this is the project that is the most unique, unusual or showing the best engineering in a project
Most Artistic - this award is for the best display of a science project
Earth friendly - the best project that shows learning and caring about the environment

NOTE: Only 1 trophy will be awarded to each winning project - regardless of the number of team members.
Scoring guidelines:
Most Innovative - 0 to 10 points each for:
Unique, uncommon and/or creative topic
Use of innovative or unusual materials in the display to prove your hypothesis
Proving your hypothesis through innovative data collection
Having a clear hypothesis
Proving your hypothesis using the Scientific Method
Most Artistic - 0 to 10 points each for:
Use of colors, textures or other visual aids to draw attention to important points
Telling your story using art that is unwritten
Having a large variety of colors that are visually appealing
Having a clear hypothesis
Proving your hypothesis using the Scientific Method
Earth Friendly - 0 to 10 points each for:
Ability of the explored principle to improve the environment
Ease of implementation for Boght Hills families - while having impact
Ability to scale the observed principle to a large community
Having a clear hypothesis
Proving your hypothesis using the Scientific Method
