What is the Walk for FUNds?
The Walk for FUNds is the Boght Hills Elementary School PTA’s main fundraiser for the year. The PTA relies on this major event to raise funds that support all the PTA-sponsored fun family events and educational programs that more than 530 Boght Hills students and their families will enjoy this year!

The Walk for FUNds is an opportunity for students’ families, relatives, and neighbors, in conjunction with our local business partners, to support Boght Hills through sponsorship of our students. This event builds community, encourages exercise and allows our students to make a visible contribution to their school.

The event began as a way to support PTA programming without asking Boght Hills families to sell door-to-door, bake, run, swim, or eat cases of chocolate that were supposed to be sold but never quite made it out the door. The first events involved walking around the field in front of the school.

Okay, so no bake sales, no gift wrap, no candles, and no candy to push off on our friends and neighbors, but…why do we need to raise money for the Boght Hills PTA? 

The Boght Hills PTA provides numerous opportunities for our children that would not otherwise be funded by the state or district budgets. Your PTA organizes and pays for events like the Science Fair, June Jamboree, and Ice Cream Socials not to mention purchasing teacher wish list items that will benefit our students, and teacher appreciation. Without your support, such programs would no longer exist. 

How do we raise money for the Walk for FUNds?
In addition to corporate sponsorships from our community sponsors, Walk for FUNds pledge sheets will be sent home with students. Students will have two weeks to ask family, neighbors and friends to contribute. We hope every family will participate in some way. Every donation, big or small, is greatly appreciated. We even accept online donations!


Every dollar counts, so please give what you can. And if your company has a matching gift program, please request a match and you could potentially double your donation. Boght Hills PTA is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, so your donations may be tax deductible.

What can students expect the day of the Walk for FUNds?
On October 11th, all students will participate in the Walk, which will take place during students’ regularly scheduled gym classes. If your student does not normally have gym class on a day 3, don’t worry- extra gym classes will be scheduled so that every student is able to join in the fun.
Students will be directed through several stations and will be in the gym for approximately 25-30 minutes.  There will be various fitness activities and fun surprises along the route. All students will participate in the walk even if they do not collect donations. Make sure students wear their sneakers!

Are there prizes?
Yes! There will be daily drawings for prizes from the forms turned in during the collection period, as well as classroom prizes.

The class that raises the most donations gets to choose what color Mrs. Greiner’s hair will be the day of the Walk, and the class with the highest percentage of participation will win a basketball game with Mrs. Greiner and Mrs. Pickett!
